Boardwalk Empire is an American television series from cable network HBO. The show tells chronicles the life and times of Nucky Thompson, the undisputed ruler of Atlantic City, who was equal parts politician and gangster. 

 

Boardwalk Empire dvd 1-2 opens in the year 1920 with a group of bootleggers who are smuggling Canadian Club whiskey from Canada into the United States being ambushed by two armed men in ski masks. Two days earlier, Atlantic County treasurer Nucky Thompson is the keynote speaker at a Women's Temperance League rally on the eve of Prohibition.
